Body Lift Surgery
Tijuana, Baja California, MX
Areas of the body can start to sag for several reasons, mainly the effects of aging, gravity and significant weight loss. Skin can lose its elasticity and cause the mid-section to become less taut and shapely over time. A body lift treats the affected areas of the body, commonly the lower torso/upper thigh area, including the abdomen, waist, inner/outer thighs, buttocks and/or hips.
Body Lift Candidates
Most body lift candidates have areas of loose skin that sag unattractively from the abdomen, hips, buttock and thigh areas. One of the causes is losing an excessive amount of weight through bariatric surgery or a new diet/exercise overhaul — the skin no longer fits snugly around the body’s curves. Pregnancy is another culprit.
The Body Lift Procedure
Body lift surgery varies by patient; no two treatment plans are identical, because every patient has unique needs. However, the body lift surgery generally involves an incision at the waistline; a comprehensive body lift will require the incision to extend circumferentially around the waist and lower back. Through the incision, Dr. Fuentes “lifts” the saggy skin, repairs the abdominal muscles and removes excess skin. He may also sculpt the tissue to support the new curves of the body. If the buttocks and thighs are included in the treatment plan, he may make another incision at the crease of the buttocks.
Liposuction may be incorporated into body lift surgery to remove excess pockets of fat. This is up to the discretion of Dr. Fuentes and will be discussed prior to surgery with the patient.
Body Lift Recovery
It’s important for body lift patients to rest as much as possible in the days following surgery. Unnecessary movement is not encouraged. The surgical bandages, dressings and drains should be left in place until Dr. Fuentes advises they be removed. Any post-operative pain or discomfort can be treated with oral pain medication. Dr. Fuentes will provide more in-depth instructions for recovery during the pre-operative surgical consultation. These instructions should be closely followed for optimal outcomes.
